The Domínguez family
Patriarch: Juan José Domínguez (1736 – 1809)
Rancho San Pedro descended from the childless founder Juan José through his nephew Cristóbal to Manuel Domínguez, who reconsolidated it and successfully defended it under the U.S. land commission, one of the best-documented cases of a grant surviving intact into the American period.
Origin
Juan José Domínguez was a soldier who arrived in San Diego in 1769 with the Portolà expedition and received Rancho San Pedro in 1784, among the first California grants.
