The Higuera family
Patriarch: Ignacio Anastasio Higuera (1753 – 1805)
The Higueras held Rancho Los Tularcitos (Milpitas) and Rancho Agua Caliente (Warm Springs) at the eastern edge of the Santa Clara Valley, descending from Anza-colonist soldier Ignacio Anastasio Higuera through his son José Loreto and grandson Fulgencio. As with other common surnames, some register Higueras may stem from collateral branches.
Origin
Ignacio Anastasio Higuera came on the 1775–76 Anza expedition and served as a soldier at the San Francisco presidio; the family became major Santa Clara / southern Alameda Valley grantees.
