The Pacheco family
Patriarch: Two unrelated lines: (1) Juan Salvio Pacheco (Anza colonist, 1776); (2) Francisco Pérez Pacheco (1793 Guadalajara), who came separately with the army as a carpenter
'Pacheco' in the register spans at least two unrelated families: the Anza-descended northern Pachecos of Contra Costa and Marin (Salvio's Monte del Diablo, Ignacio's Rancho San José) and the separately-arrived Francisco Pérez Pacheco, who amassed the huge Pacheco Pass ranchos. Care is needed not to merge them.
Origin
The northern Pacheco family descends from Anza colonist Juan Salvio Pacheco and settled around Contra Costa/Marin; a distinct man, Francisco Pérez Pacheco, arrived later from Guadalajara and built a separate landed fortune in the Pacheco Pass region.
